John Arnold:

Master Luthier John Arnold from Newport, Tenn. said this about Danny's number 5 and 6 guitars: "The sound of these guitars are superb!!  I've known people who have been building guitars for 20 to 30 years whose guitars aren't where these are!"

Wayne Henderson:

Well known master luthier Wayne Henderson of Rugby, Virginia said this about Danny's number 2 and 3 guitars: "They look good... they sound good... you can't do much more than that.  I'm real impressed. The craftsmanship is obviously there - the joints, intonation are good."

Ben Cockman:

2014/15 Winfield, KS National Flat Pick Guitar Champion said this about Danny's number 6 guitar: "This guitar sounds incredible. It is well balanced top to bottom. The upper register sings and the lows are full and strong, but not overpowering. The guitar responds great when played with intensity and has a pure ringing sound that I look for on softer as well as more technical selections. The ‘opened up’ sound this instrument produces is as if it has been well aged and played for many years. And the way it feels… I couldn’t be happier. Very comfortable and smooth feel to the neck makes playing relaxed and enjoyable. I find that playing this guitar encourages extra time spent practicing and fosters new ideas and directions that only a guitar of this quality can. When Danny designed and constructed this guitar he captured the sound and feel of an instrument that is truly second to none."

Taylor Helms
Pastor of Music and Worship

As a Worship Pastor, music is more than just a hobby in my life, it is a calling. With that calling comes a personal expectation that I should always give the Lord my absolute best as I lead His people to prepare their hearts through worship. In the Fall of 2016, I began searching for a new guitar that would allow me to lead worship in a new way. I took it from the perspective that I would not look at the name on the guitar, but let my ears and hands determine the one I would purchase. After a few months of searching (and picking up guitars well out of my comfort zone), a friend of mine from church put me in contact with Danny and we soon met so I could give one of his guitars a chance. The first time I strummed a chord on Danny’s guitar, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for. The quality, tone, and build were above and beyond what I found in many local guitar shops for top-tier model instruments. The guitar has a clear resonance in the mid-range, and a strong bass to give it an incredible amount of natural volume. It had the “punch” that I was looking for in other guitars. It offers the clarity and tone you would expect from a Martin, with the action and ease of play that you would expect from a Taylor. You can clearly see that Danny is a perfectionist and desires to put the very best into everything he does. I am truly honored to play his guitar weekly as I lead worship. If you are looking for a quality instrument, I could not recommend Danny enough.

Today was an awesome day! I've had an incredible guitar at my house for a few months that a friend built. I've posted about it here before (Danny Seamon D18 style). It has blown me away time and time again. It's come time for me to return it to it's owner/builder (a couple of tears here). I decided to take it down to Midwood Guitar Studio in Charlotte, NC today to test it against the "big boys" before returning it. I've know all along that it was fantastic, from the first time I strummed it. But, I spend so much time on this forum reading about all of the amazing authentic Martins and other builds that I had to confirm what I was already pretty sure of - this Danny Season guitar is as good as these others.

Of course, at this level, it's mainly a personal preference thing. Midwood Guitar Studio has amassed an outstanding collection of guitars by some of the best builders out there today. No vintage stuff, but a great selection of current builders. Today I played and PreWar Guitar Co D (distress level 3), Boucher Studio Goose, Bourgeois Aged Tone-D Mahogany Custom, Huss and Dalton DS 12 Sunburst, and Martin D18 Authentic 1939 Aged. Every one of these guitars was AWESOME! I was so glad to get to play so many great guitars in one place and A/B all I wanted. They have a nice acoustic room where I was able to listen clearly to each and compare. The Boucher was probably the loudest and I really like it. The neck and feel was a little more modern and the tone was a bit harsh for me though. The D18 Authentic was great too. Very similar to the Seamon I brought. For the 6700 price tag, I expected it to put the much more affordable Seamon to shame, but it had nothing on the Seamon. Honestly I'd have probably chosen the Seamon over the Martin in a blind comparison 9 out of 10 times. Not to say the Martin was not great, it was.

As I mentioned above, part of my reason in going today was to compare these great guitars with the Danny Seamon guitar. I have to say, as unbiasedly (if that's a word) as I can, that the Seamon guitar was one of the best of the bunch! Honestly, if given a choice of taking any one I played home for free today, the only one I'd consider over the Seamon was the PreWar. It was very unique in tone. Much different than all the others, in a good way I think. I'd have to spend some more time with it to be sure. It had a very dry, hollow sound. And it was loud. But the Seamon was just what I like in terms of tone, punch, cut, etc. I was very impressed and felt vindicated in my high estimation of this guitar.

All in all, it was a great experience to spend time with such fine guitars at a great newish shop in my area!
